This trap is too weak to stand up to a raccoon's strength. We caught one the first night, but it escaped. I strengthened the door with wood and built a wall around the bait end so they couldn't steal the food from the outside. We caught another, but it bent the cheap door trap and escaped again. Spend your money on a good, strong trap.

Bought the two pack and set the large trap up right away. On two occasions, I had a raccoon in the trap, but it stuck around to eat the food, bend the cheap aluminum completely out of shape, then broke out. I haven't used it since and am very disappointed with the cheap quality and design.

I own 8 of these traps. These traps catch critters but are poorly constructed. The larger traps keep loosing the trigger rods even before I used the traps for the first time so I had to improvise with wire. They started using a new trap that sets itself when you lift up the door; on the smaller one of these traps, I had something squeeze it's way out. If you do this for a living like I do, you may want to invest a little more money and get quality.

If you want to trap a large coon, this trap is too weak. I had one bulge and bend the door and floor of the cage to force its way out. It also badly bent the trigger plate.

Update to my previous review... got a second nuisance raccoon on the second night.
My only quibble is that it could use a rolled edge on the free end of the trigger platform. This one was bigger and in his struggles to get out, he bent it a bit. Straightened OK but could stand to be stiffer in that area if it was going to see more than just 'rural village homeowner' use.
