In 1966 Tractor Supply Company of Nashville, Tennessee established TSC Stores Ltd. in Canada. Tractor Supply Company is the largest chain of farm and ranch stores in the U.S. The first TSC Store opened in London, Ontario in November of 1966.

The Canadian chain grew to 10 stores by 1987, at which time Tractor Supply decided to divest itself from the Canadian operation. The Company was purchased by the Canadian Management team in May, 1987. Under the leadership of Murray Cummings as President, the business grew to 17 stores by the year 2000.

In 2000, Mr. Cummings decided to retire and TSC Stores Ltd. was acquired by a group of the company's senior executives consisting of Roy Carter, John Kropp and Gord Illes. The Company continued to grow under the guidance of this management to 24 company-owned stores and one joint venture, "TSC Villager" store, by 2005.

In May, 2005 TSC Stores Ltd. entered into a partnership relationship with Canadian Private Equity Partners, an investment group of TD Capital. The most visible change under the new limited partnership was the consolidation of management under President and CEO, Roy Carter as Carter's former partners John Kropp and Gord Illes sold their interest in the company. The new limited partnership, TSC Stores L.P., gave the company a significant infusion of capital that allows it to pursue a more aggressive growth strategy.

In June of 2006, David Roussy replaced Roy Carter as President and CEO of TSC Stores. Greg Hicks also joined the team as Chief Operating Officer. Currently, TSC Stores operates 36 company-owned stores in Ontario, and an additional store in Brandon, Manitoba.
